The Appeal of Blackjack Tournaments

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

Virtually every online gambling website has blackjack games. With the exception of sites that are specifically for poker or bingo, any site that carries casino games is going to have blackjack. As the most popular table game, it is one of the staples of any online casino.

That doesn’t mean any reputable online casino is a good one for blackjack players, though. It is a personal decision, but for me, the top online gambling sites all have blackjack tournaments available. Slot tournaments are easy to find and are at virtually every online casino. Blackjack tournaments, on the other hand, are much scarcer. They simply aren’t as profitable for the casinos, so a lot of them don’t bother carrying them. To a lot of blackjack players, though, it is worth the search.

Blackjack tournaments are more competitive and exciting than the regular game. Instead of a one-on-one matchup between you and the dealer, with every other player doing the same, you are actually competing against all of the blackjack players. Normally, it doesn’t matter what the other players do, but in the tournaments, you need to win more points than they do if you want to earn prizes. Therefore, as you play you need to monitor the leader board and if you are falling behind, it’s time to get more aggressive.

If you want one-on-one action, there are also head-to-head blackjack tournaments, where you compete directly against another player, with no dealer involved. In both cases, the games are more intense because there is more to keep track of and there is more competition. Instead of just you against the dealer, it’s you against the dealer and everybody else.

Free Blackjack Tournaments

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

I love playing in blackjack tournaments. To me, the only thing better than a blackjack tournament is a free blackjack tournament. Unfortunately, a lot of online casinos don’t have tournaments for blackjack, only slots. If you check the best online casinos as rated by us, though, you will find some with tournament play.

The main appeal of blackjack tournaments is that you don’t have to wager your own money. You wager points that are given to you when you join the tournament. If it’s a freeroll tournament, you don’t even need to pay an entry fee. That means you can compete for prize money without paying anything.

Another great thing about blackjack tournaments is the competitive atmosphere. Normally, no matter how many players are at your table, it doesn’t matter because you are only competing against the dealer. If the person next to you beats the dealer also, it doesn’t affect you. With tournaments, though, it all affects you. Other players winning means you need to win more to keep up. That is because the tournaments have a leader board format, where the players who win the most points take home prizes.

In some blackjack tournaments, there is no dealer at all. In head-to-head tournaments, it is you against another player. That takes the competitive play of blackjack to a new level. On each hand, one of you will win and one will lose, unless you both bust or tie.

Though blackjack tournaments are often overlooked by online casinos due to perceived unprofitability, they are an important part of online casino gaming. It takes blackjack to a new level of excitement and allows you to play at little risk. If it’s a free blackjack tournament, there is no risk at all, which makes it even better. Always be on the lookout for those tournaments.

Head2Head Blackjack Tournaments at Silver Dollar Casino

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Blackjack tournaments are a great benefit of online gambling. You take the game that you already love and play it in a different way. Casinos often have rule variations, side bets and other things that change the game, but brick and mortar casinos rarely have blackjack tournaments. Online, though, there are several good casinos for them, including Silver Dollar Casino.

Right now there is a good blackjack tournament going on. Every Monday through Thursday, the casino runs a Head2Head tournament. In this tournament, you entirely cut out the dealer. Instead of a bunch of players competing against the dealer, two players go head to head. It’s your cards against one other person’s cards. The person with the most points from the most wins makes their way to the top of the leader board and at the end of the tournament, the top players win prizes.

The Head2Head blackjack tournament is played on the US Blackjack game. The buy-in for the tournament is only $5, which is one of the smaller entry fees you’ll find. The prize pool is made up of the pot, so the more people join your tournament, the more money you can win. Of course, you will also have more competition then as well.

On the weekends, Silver Dollar Casino offers a different kind of blackjack tournament. From Friday through Sunday, you can take part in the Weekend Blackjack Classic. This is a more conventional game, where players compete against the dealer. The players who win the most money against the dealer will win prize money. In this case, the tournament has a $5,000 prize pool. Both of those tournaments can be found at Silver Dollar Casino.

Blackjack Tournaments at Grand Vegas Casino

Friday, April 1st, 2011

The weekend is here and that has me thinking about blackjack tournaments. I am a huge fan of blackjack tournaments because I love the competitive nature of going up against other players instead of just the dealer. I also love that you can play the game for pretty cheap and still possibly win some money. Unfortunately, it seems like most online casinos don’t offer blackjack tournaments. They only have tournament play for slots and poker, because those are more profitable. Luckily, Grand Vegas always has a good blackjack tournament running, including this weekend.

At the online casino, you can take part in the Blackjack Pot Percentage tournament. The tournament runs from Friday at 8:00 PM until Saturday at the same time. The game is played on the Vegas Strip Blackjack game, which is a well-made basic blackjack game. Entry for the tournament costs only $0.99 and earns you 50 credits with which to play. If you run out of credits and want to re-buy, you can do so for a slightly higher price of $2.49. In the tournament, as the name suggests, you play for a percentage of the pot.

If you miss the tournament this weekend, it runs again on Monday, April 4. Each of the blackjack tournaments run for 24 hours and have a $0.99 entry fee. To take part in the tournaments or play any of the other games (they have slot tournaments, too, but I’ll leave talk of that to the slot websites), visit Grand Vegas Casino.

Why I Love Blackjack Tournaments

Monday, February 28th, 2011

One of the great things about online casinos, rather than the brick and mortar variety, is that they offer blackjack tournaments. Now, a lot of online casinos don’t offer tournaments for blackjack, but for those that do, it’s an opportunity I can’t resist.

There are two main appeals of playing blackjack in a tournament rather than the normal way. The first is that it is cheaper and almost devoid of risk. With regular blackjack, you pay for each wager and on every hand you risk some of your money. That means you can win money, but you’re also facing the possibility of the house taking it from you. With blackjack tournaments, you normally only pay an entry fee and after that, the wagers are using points that were awarded to you simply for joining.

The other great thing about blackjack tournaments is that the gameplay is different. It is more competitive, for one thing. Instead of a bunch of players competing against the dealer, with no one really caring how well the other players do, everyone is against each other. If another players is winning a lot, that puts more pressure on you as you fall behind on the leader board. The competitive nature of blackjack tournaments make them more exciting and dramatic. Also, some online casinos have head-to-head blackjack tournaments. In that type of tournament, instead of a player against a dealer, two players compete directly against each other. There is no dealer, so there’s no house edge. Both players have the same rules and can strategize accordingly. Because of the different rules, different strategy is needed, which also provides a new challenge for those who have basic strategy memorized.

I don’t play tournaments all the time because that’s not where the good money is. However, for a different type of game with less risk, playing in an occasional blackjack tournament can’t be beat.

Blackjack tournaments at Go Casino

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

With the weekend here, it’s the time of the week that I focus on blackjack tournaments. Well, that and I focus on watching football. Also, I focus on taking my wife somewhere nice so she’s happy with me. That also helps her not be mad at me for spending part of my weekend playing blackjack tournaments and watching football.

Go Casino is offering blackjack tournaments this weekend for a low entry fee, it it’s a good way to play your favorite game and try to win some prizes while risking only a small amount of money. From tonight at 8:00 PM until Saturday, October 23 at 8:00 PM, the online casino is holding a tournament on the Vegas Strip Blackjack game. You can join the tournament for a buy-in of only $0.99. Paying that entry fee awards you 50 credits with which to play. If you run out of credits and want to continue playing, you can re-buy for the amount of $2.49.

At stake in the tournament is a share of the pot. The top 41 players in the tournament will each win a percentage of the pot, the amount of which is determined by the number of people who buy into the tournament.

If the weekend comes to an end and you haven’t gotten enough tournament action, the casino is also holding a tournament from Monday, October 25 to Tuesday, October 26. That tournament is played on the Perfect Pair Blackjack game. Like the other tournament, it has a $0.99 entry fee and the top 41 players split the pot.

To take part in either of the blackjack tournaments or play any of the blackjack games in regular, non-tournament action, visit Go Casino.

Blackjack Tournaments at Go Casino

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Tournaments are a big part of the draw of online casinos. It allows people to compete against other players and risk little (or none) of their own money for a chance at prizes. Too often, though, those tournaments are only for online slots and blackjack players are left out.

That is not the case at Go Casino, where every week they hold multiple blackjack tournaments. The tournaments are played on the Vegas Strip Blackjack game. In these online blackjack tournaments, the entry fee is only $0.99, which gives you 50 credits to play with. If you run out and want to continue, you can re-buy for $2.49.

In these blackjack tournaments, you play for a percentage of the pot, so you make more if more people play. Of course, the more people play, the more people you are competing against for prizes, so it’s kind of a catch 22. In the current promotion, the top 41 players in the tournaments take home prizes, with the amount based on the number who plays.

This week, there are two blackjack tournaments going on. One began yesterday, April 28, and ends tonight at 8:00 PM. The other online blackjack tournament is this weekend, running from Friday, April 30 to Saturday, May 1 at 8:00 PM.

The Vegas Strip Blackjack game used in these online tournaments has traditional Vegas rules. Blackjack pays 3 to 2, the dealer stands on all 17s, and insurance pays 2 to 1. The online blackjack game has a multi-player feature that allows you to play with friends and lets you play up to 5 hands. You can bet anywhere from $2 to $200 on each hand.

The Vegas Strip Blackjack game has good graphics that make it look like you’re sitting at a blackjack table in Las Vegas. The gameplay is good and easy to learn.

Go Casino March Bonuses

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

I mostly cover blackjack strategy in this blog, but every once in a whole it’s nice to point you in the direction of online casinos to play at. After all, with thousands of online casinos out there on the Web, it can be difficult finding the right location for your online blackjack. That’s where I’m here to help.

One of the things that set the online casinos apart is their bonuses. Right now, Go Casino is offering a good welcome bonus for new players. Players who join Go Casino will receive a 100% match bonus of up to $1,000, meaning that if you deposit up to one grand the casino will double it. That deal is spread out over your first 20 deposits at the online casino, so you don’t have to spend $1,000 right away.

With up to $2,000 to start with, you can play a lot of online blackjack and that’s the plan. The generous welcome bonus is intended to get you started playing blackjack and after that, making money is up to you. Blackjack basic strategy applies just as well in online blackjack as in a brick and mortar casino, though card counting does not work online.

In addition to the deposit match bonus, Go Casino also holds a lot of blackjack tournaments. In fact, there are 11 online blackjack tournaments on the schedule for March alone. Those tournaments have an entry fee of only $0.99, which earns you 50 credits. If you run out of credits, you can rebuy for only $2.49. In blackjack tournaments, instead of playing for real money, you compete against other players and at the end of the tournament, the players with the most credits earn prizes. The prizes can be cash, a percentage of the pot, loyalty points and more.

Go Casino has four different blackjack games: Perfect Pairs Blackjack, Vegas Strip Blackjack, European Rules Blackjack and Progressive Blackjack. For those who are interested in more than blackjack, the casino also has a wide range of online slots, video poker, various types of poker games, craps, roulette, baccarat and more.

To take advantage of the deposit match bonus and start playing in some of the great blackjack tournaments, visit Go Casino today.

Blackjack Tournaments at English Harbour

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Tournaments for slots or online poker are a dime a dozen. They’re all over the place and if you visit any online casino you will find them. If you look for gambling news online, you will find countless mentions of slot tournaments and poker tournaments. They saturate the market like Lady Gaga or Obama. Blackjack tournaments, however, are a little more difficult to find. At times, it requires sleuth-like skills that would make Sherlock Holmes (either the one from the book or the much different character in the recent movie) proud. Luckily, I found some good blackjack tournaments at English Harbour Casino.

Every week, there are two different blackjack tournaments going on at English Harbour, with one taking place during the week and the other being held on the weekends. Both tournaments are played on the game called Blackjack Vegas Strip…In case, you’re wondering, it’s not “strip” as in “remove clothing.” Just thought I’d let you know.

From Monday through Thursday, English Harbour Casino holds the Head2Head online blackjack tournament. In this tournament, you play for the pot, which means there is more money at stake the more people join the tournament and play. The entry fee is only $5 and there are unlimited rebuys. The prize money is split among the top 20 players in the tournament.

The Weekend Blackjack Classic, which is played Friday through Sunday, is where the big money is found. Here you are playing for a prize pool of $5,000. Again, the prizes are awarded to the top 20 players in the tournament. The top winner earns a very respectable $2500. The Weekend Blackjack Classic tournament has an entry fee of $10 and has unlimited rebuys.

It should be noted, for those new to blackjack tournaments, that your strategy should be a little different in tournament play. The reason for that is when playing a normal game of blackjack, whether it’s online or at a brick and mortar casino, the other players don’t matter. You only care about your cards in relation to the dealer’s cards. With online blackjack tournaments, however, the other players matter, because in order to win a prize you need to have more points than the other players. For that reason, many experts suggest playing more aggressively in your betting, which could include doubling down more often and betting larger amounts than normal.

To play in either of the blackjack tournaments, visit English Harbour Casino today.
