California may be Next to Legalize Internet Gambling

March 15th, 2013

US online blackjack and poker enthusiasts have frequented Google, checking every now and then if their state already has considered legalizing such activities. The US has been introducing legislation that would allow the Internet gambling state by state. Now that Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey have the regulations in place, it appears like California is the next in line. There are other states as well that are gearing up for their own version of Internet gambling legalization like Pennsylvania. What makes California a lot different from the others is the Silicon Valley that has long prepared for the potential opening of the market. Companies have started working on possible offerings for social gaming and developed software for online casino games even before the state considered passing the Bill 678.

There have been talks about online poker legalization in California. However, it has been stalled by some stakeholders who want to get a big cut from the gambling pie. The Senate Bill 678 that was introduced by Senator Lou Correa represents the latest effort for the Internet gambling law in California. Among the largest gambling industry in California is run and operated by tribes. They are one of the reasons why there has been slow development in the pushing of online blackjack, casino and poker legislation in the state. In fact, the recently proposed bill has already been the third time in the past three years.

However, the bill’s content has not been disclosed yet. There is no clear detail whether it limits the legalization of Internet poker or also allows other table games, including blackjack online. Nevertheless, the framework is expected to outline a comprehensive guideline for the potential industry. It is expected though that the responsibility for running and controlling the market will be vested upon the California gaming commission. Although it may take a long time for the law to be set in place, the fact that it is being reintroduced gives hope to both players and operators. Most importantly, this is such great news to companies at Silicon Valley that already had offered their Internet gambling product and services to offshore operators while its own residents can’t get a taste of it.

The Biggest and the Brightest in Online Gambling 2012

January 12th, 2013

The gambling industry has again surpassed expectations for another year. Of course, there are losers and winners. However, the United States remains the top gambling destination in the world. This is because of its $105 billion revenues from gambling in the year 2012 alone.China and Nevada move up following Macau. Despite the ban and limiting its brick and mortar casinos to Macau, the country is still able to draw $50 billion. Does it mean that US has to take double time in its effort to legalize online blackjack, poker and other Internet-based casino to take a bigger share from the virtual gambling realm?

According to the H2 Gambling Capital, the US only gained about 3.3 percent of its 2012 revenues from Internet gambling. This is quite surprising considering the fact that there are already about 100 million Americans playing online blackjack on their mobiles which equates to a 42 percent increase in the gambling spends in the last four years. Even the could agree with this claim. Meanwhile, jurisdictions with more relaxed laws are unstoppably luring new gamblers and enjoying the highly lucrative business. Among their top stakes are the British and the Nordic countries. The British got about 21 percent of the gambling share from their virtual games. It was also revealed that one woman out of every five men spends roughly 14 months of their lives betting and playing blackjack and roulette online.

On the other hand, Nordic countries are the biggest surprise. This is because they have earned about $8.5 billion in revenues from gambling in 2012 where 30.3 percent come from real money Internet based games like blackjack online. Sweden turned out to have the biggest players as its government maintains a monopoly in their Internet gambling market. In contrast,Korea remains the weakest industry player despite their Gangnam Style hit. Similarly,Australia’s igaming market is going down. In fact, it loses about $1,300 USD every year on its online slots, roulette and blackjack. The global igaming market is here for good, there is no doubt about it. With this, jurisdictions that take this business as being a trouble rather than a profit generator have to think again.

Figuring Out What to Offer

November 16th, 2012

If you are starting an online casino and you are trying to figure out what games you would like to offer your clients, first you have to figure out what your clients like. The audience that you have will fall into a couple of different categories and you will have to ensure that the games that you have are going to appeal to all of them. You can’t have traditional slot machines when half of your crowd likes blackjack. You can’t offer video poker if no one likes it, etc. Those that run these online gambling sites spend a lot of time figuring out what it is people like and getting them just that.

You will also have to look at the bonuses and promotions that you offer. Many online blackjack players choose the site that they are going to play at simply because they like what the casino is offering them for free. Let’s say that is offering one heck of a promotion – perhaps 400% bonus on any deposit made with very minimal in terms of wagering requirements. Well, you can assume that there are tons of people who are going to take advantage of that offer. By comparison, let’s say you offer 10% back on their deposit – and you have some hoops that you are going to make them jump through. How many people do you think will be interested in your site? Probably not very many. That is why you have to look at the larger picture of free money that you offer for that will get many of them in the door, and if you have the games to follow it up with then you will keep them there playing once you got their attention.

Finally, you have to look at the look of your site. People go for online blackjack – they don’t want to have to spend a lot of time searching for it. You want your site to look professionally done, and you want it to be pleasing to the eye. You also want to ensure that your players have the ability to find the deposit and withdrawal buttons easily, or you won’t get any money from anyone either. But above all of this, you want your customer service skills to be exceptional. You want to ensure that if there are any problems at all that they know how to get a hold of you. Not only that, but you must be available at all hours of the day so that they can reach you whenever they need you, and through many different forms. If you can offer your clients all of this, you won’t have any problem getting people in and retaining them.
